Top 5 Looks of Milan Fashion Week

Philipp Plein
Most of the show was a look into what it would be like if the Upper East Side had cowboys (and let me tell you it is a good thing they don’t). However, Plein did manage to create a diamond in the rough. Not just your average diamond either. I’m talking a full-fledged Kim Kardashian engagement ring type diamond. This coat is really something. The combination of bright red plaid, studs, AND a fur collar was risky. But let me tell you, it was a risk worth taking.

Dolce and Gabbana
So, I was wondering if a handsome young prince could put a ring on it sometime soon so I could become a princess and wear this dress. This is definitely a princess dress. Dolce and Gabbana has a way of creating clothes that just make you feel luxurious. From stunningly simple silhouettes to rich colors and detail, Dolce and Gabbana is fit for the royals.
So there may be a little bias in adding this Trussardi look to my top 5 list. Not only is it mostly black (my weakness), but it is composed of leather pants, an oversized sweater, and a beautiful, beautiful pair of loafers (also a weakness). They might as well have just named the look after me. Perfect.
Alberta Ferretti
It was really hard to find an evening dress that was fair to put in a top 5 list with the Dolce and Gabbana number. This Alberta Ferretti dress really gives the other a run for it’s money. If I haven’t already hammered it into your head, simple is wonderful. The fit and shape of this dress isn’t anything crazy, there is not any avant-garde element. The dress is even more stunning for that. There is something about a easy elegant look, that is much more desirable. There were definitely some red carpet worthy dresses this season in Milan.
The obsession with menswear inspired looks is real. It is very real and bordering on unhealthy (if that is even possible, of course). Menswear inspired looks are just cool. There is no other way to say it. Just like the Band of Outsiders look from NYFW, this look is for someone who is totally fashionable and just doesn’t give a d*#@. I mean really this is so beyond effortless but astonishingly chic. Time to dig through my closet and try to figure out how to recreate this look.
